Jishou Smart Medical and Health Care Service Centre is located in Tongyouping Community, Shijiachong Sub-district, Jishou City. The service center, which was transformed from the idle state-owned assets, has become a happy station for the elderly to relax and play. There is a bright and comfortable lounge, a cafeteria where the elderly can enjoy delicious and affordable meals, a multifunctional hall, a chess and cards room, a calligraphy and painting room as well as a reading room, all of which are popular among the elderly.
“The entire service center, with a construction area of 4,000 square meters, started trial operation on November 9 and can provide daily care, leisure and entertainment, health checkup and rehabilitation nursing services for the elderly in Jishou City.” The person in charge of the service center said that during the second phase of the project, a medical and health care service station will also be built at Yanziyan Road in Jishou City, which can offer the elderly quality day care and full care services.
In view of the weak economic foundation, the high financial pressure, the relative tightness of office space in most communities and villages, and the inability to individually support the construction of elderly service facilities, Jishou City has made good use of idle state-owned assets such as the courtyards of government institutions and activity centers of public institutions, and introduced market forces by way of “government-enterprise alliance” for renovation funds, so that “dormant resources” can effectively become a “strong agent” for upgrading the quality of elderly services.
This year, Hunan Zhongkang Changhua Medical Health Management Co., Ltd. settled in Jishou. A total of 12,000 square meters of age-appropriate and quality-improved community medical and health care service stations were built, and a total of 70 beds were added for the elderly. In the first phase, 50 million yuan was invested to build Jishou Smart Medical and Health Care Service Centre in Tongyouping.
At the Day Care Centre, located in Guangming Community of Donghe Sub-district, many elderly people gather for recreation. After the centre was renovated and upgraded, volunteers provide day care services for the elderly in the community for free, serving 3,000 people a year.
Jishou has also focused on the reform of countryside, made good use of rural mutual care services as an important element in achieving rural revitalization, and made full use of idle rural schools and village halls to set up day care centers and demonstration points for elderly care services, all of which have increased the coverage of rural mutual care service facilities.
Yasha Village has a large elderly population. In September last year, the village cooperated with supporting units to upgrade and transform the idle village hall into a demonstration site for elderly services with different rooms like the lounge, the activity room and the kitchen, in an effort to better meet the needs for the elderly.
